Please review this before scheduling as these are our practice requirements for stimulant prescriptions:
A prior formal evaluation is required. You must have already been evaluated for ADHD by a licensed psychologist before your first appointment. We do not accept online ADHD assessment reports as a substitute.
Haven't been evaluated yet? We're happy to help — email us at hello@skyementalhealth.com or text us at 248-587-8267 during normal business hours (M-F, 9-5) and we'll send you a referral list of Michigan-based psychologists who evaluate ADHD and accept both insurance and self-pay.
Documentation comes first. Please upload your ADHD, cognitive, neuro-psych assessment using this secure link when you are scheduling an appointment.
We prescribe extended-release stimulant formulations only. We do not accommodate requests for immediate-release stimulants.
ADHD and Stimulant Prescriptions
Why ADHD in Women Looks Different
Signs You Shouldn't Ignore
1. A lifelong pattern of "almost" — almost organized, almost on time, almost finished.
If you've spent years feeling like you're working twice as hard as everyone else just to keep up, and you were never evaluated for ADHD as a child, that pattern deserves a real look now. Late-diagnosed ADHD in women is common, not rare.
2. Mental exhaustion from constantly "holding it together."
Many women with undiagnosed ADHD describe a specific kind of fatigue — the effort of masking symptoms, overcompensating with lists and systems, and appearing organized on the outside while struggling internally.
3. A previous diagnosis or medication that never quite fit.
If you've been treated for anxiety or depression but something has always felt slightly off, an underlying condition like ADHD may not have been considered.
4. Difficulty finishing what you start, even things you care about.
Chronic task-switching, half-finished projects, and a mental to-do list that never gets shorter are core ADHD symptoms, not a personality trait or a discipline problem.
5. A sense that "everyone else got a manual you never received."
Many women describe watching peers manage work, home, and relationships in ways that always seemed to require far less effort than it took them.
ADHD symptoms overlap significantly with anxiety, depression, burnout, and perimenopausal hormonal changes.
Treating the wrong condition — or only part of the picture — is one of the most common reasons women feel like previous treatment "didn't work."
We take the time to sort out what's actually driving your symptoms before building a treatment plan, and we work alongside any other mental health providers such as your therapist already involved in your care.

Many women were never identified as children because their symptoms didn't match the hyperactive presentation typically associated with ADHD in boys. Instead, they internalized symptoms like disorganization and mental exhaustion, often going undiagnosed until their 30s, 40s, or 50s.

We conduct a careful evaluation to distinguish ADHD from overlapping conditions like anxiety, depression, and burnout before building a treatment plan, since these are frequently confused with one another or coexist.
